Joaquín Damis y Cortés was a Spanish painter born in Cádiz in 1842 and died in 1920. He was a disciple of the School of Fine Arts in his hometown, where he studied under the guidance of Santiago Rodríguez Lago, Manuel Roca, and Justo Ruiz Luna. He specialized in maritime scenes and was known for his mastery of oil on canvas and pastel techniques.
